How does the payout follow the Buyer Protection period?

The money for an order is held while the user who paid can still report a problem, then paid out to you 2 days later. Nothing pays out on its own before that.

The timeline

  1. Paid. The user pays. You have 5 business days to send the item.
  2. Sent. You mark the order as sent with its tracking.
  3. Delivered. The carrier records the delivery, or the user presses Received.
  4. Buyer Protection. 7 days for a private individual, 14 days for a business.
  5. Paid out. 2 days after Buyer Protection ends.

Which period applies

It depends on your account type when the item is paid for: Individual or Company, in Settings, Account. Changing your account type later does not change orders already paid. See Why do some orders have 7 days and others 14?

What stops a payout

  • The payment is refunded.
  • The payment is disputed with the card issuer.

If it takes longer

If Stripe has not yet made the money available in your Stripe Payout Account, the payout waits and is tried again. It is never paid early.

If an order is still open 55 days after the payment, our team looks at it and either pays it out or refunds it before day 60.
