Buying
- How does the cart work?
You have one cart for each user or shop you buy from. Each cart is paid separately, with its own shipping, and you can switch between carts.
- Is the item held for me while I pay?
Yes. When you press Pay, every listing in that cart is reserved for you while you complete the payment, and other users see it as Reserved.
- Which currency do I pay in, and are there import duties?
You pay in the listing's currency: CHF in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, EUR in the EU. Across the Swiss border, duties and VAT are paid on delivery.
- Which countries do you deliver to?
We deliver to every EU country, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. We do not deliver to the United Kingdom or anywhere else.
- Can I collect an item in person?
Yes, when the listing offers Collection in person. Collection is free, and you confirm the handover by pressing Received on your order.
- How do I pay, and where do I find my order?
You pay on Stripe's secure page inside Tack-o-Tack. After paying, your order is under Orders, with its items, shipping and total.
Shipping and delivery
- How is the shipping fee calculated?
Tack-o-Tack sets the shipping fee from the item's size class (S, M, L or XL) and the route from the item's country to yours. The owner never sets it.
- How long do I have to send an item I sold?
You have 5 business days from the payment to send the item. The deadline is met once the carrier confirms the parcel.
- Can I ask for more time to send?
Yes, once per order and before the deadline. If the other user accepts, you get 3 more business days to send the item.
- What happens when an order is not sent in time?
If the carrier has not confirmed the parcel by the deadline, the order is cancelled automatically and the payment is refunded in full.
- How do I add the tracking number and carrier?
Open the order in Selling, Sales, enter the tracking number and press Mark as sent. The tracking number is required.
- How is a delivery recorded?
An order counts as delivered at the carrier's delivered scan, or when the user who paid presses Received, whichever comes first.
- What if my parcel never arrives?
If a parcel has no delivery 25 business days after it was sent, it is presumed lost and you can report it as not received through Contact support.
Buyer Protection and problems
- What is Buyer Protection?
When you pay on Tack-o-Tack, the money is held and only paid out after delivery and a period in which you can report a problem.
- How long do I have to report a problem?
7 days from delivery when the item was sold by a private individual, and 14 days when it was sold by a business. Your order shows the exact date.
- Why do some orders have 7 days and others 14?
It depends on who sold it. A private user's listing has 7 days from delivery, a shop's has 14, as EU law gives 14 days when buying from a business.
- How do I tell you about a problem with an order?
Open the order and press Contact support. The form already names your order. Send it before your Buyer Protection date.
- When do I get a refund?
An order not sent in time is refunded in full automatically. A checkout that times out or a payment not confirmed in time is never charged.
- Why are contact details hidden in my messages?
Phone numbers, email addresses, links and social media handles are hidden in messages so that payment stays on Tack-o-Tack, where Buyer Protection applies.
Selling
- How do I create a listing?
Press Sell gear and follow five steps, category, photos, details, price and description, then publish. Your listing is live at once.
- How many photos do I need, and what are the saddle photos?
One photo is enough and twelve is the maximum. A saddle gets four named photos, Profile, Panels, Tree stamp and Serial, and none of them is required.
- Can I save a draft, edit, unpublish or delete a listing?
Yes. Drafts keep any progress, a live listing can be edited or moved back to draft, and a listing can be deleted until it is sold.
- Which details does a listing ask for?
The questions depend on the category. Condition is always asked; colour is one optional tap. The location is picked, and only town and country are shown.
- Do listings expire?
No. A listing does not expire on a fixed date. It stays live until it sells, or until you move it to draft or delete it.
- What is my nickname?
Your nickname is the name other users see on your listings and in messages. You choose it when you sign up, and nobody else can have the same one.
- Why does my listing show Not buyable yet?
Your listing is live, but nobody can buy it until you set up your Stripe Payout Account, which is how you receive the money from a sale.
- What does Verified mean on a listing?
A Verified listing was listed by the Tack-o-Tack team itself. Verified on a user is a different badge: that person passed an identity check.
- What can't be listed?
Tack-o-Tack is for equipment only. Animals, counterfeit, stolen or illegal items can't be listed, and contact details can't be used to deal elsewhere.
Payments and payouts
- How do I set up my Stripe Payout Account?
In Settings, Account, choose your billing country and account type, then press Set up Payout Account and complete Stripe's form.
- When do I get paid?
Two days after the Buyer Protection period ends. That is 9 days after delivery for a private individual and 16 days after delivery for a business.
- How much does Tack-o-Tack charge?
7% plus 0.70 in the listing's currency, deducted from what you receive when you sell. Listing is free and the user who pays is charged no fee.
- How does the payout follow the Buyer Protection period?
Your money is held while the other user can still report a problem, and paid out 2 days after that period ends. A dispute or refund stops it.
- Which countries can receive payouts?
Every EU country, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The billing country list only shows those countries. The United Kingdom is not included.
Account
- How do I create an account?
Press Sign up and enter your name, a nickname, your email and a password. One account lets you both buy and sell, from any country.
- How do I change the language, country or display mode?
Open the gear icon with the flag in the header. It holds Language, Country and Display mode, and each can be changed on its own.
- Which notifications and emails will I get?
The bell in the header shows your messages and notifications about orders. Marketing emails are optional and set in Settings, Notifications.
- How does identity verification work?
It is an optional ID check run by Stripe. Once it passes, a Verified badge appears on your account. Not doing it is never held against you.
- How do I change my email address or password?
Both are changed in Settings, Profile. A new email address needs confirming from a link, and a new password signs out your other devices.
- How do I delete my account?
In Settings, then Profile, choose Delete account at the bottom. Confirm with your password, or type DELETE if you sign in with Google.
- How do I add people to my shop?
A company account has a Team. An owner invites people by email in Settings, Account. Members manage listings, orders and messages; owners do everything.
