Is the item held for me while I pay?

Yes. When you press Pay, every listing in that cart is reserved for you while you pay. Other users see Reserved on it and cannot buy it in the meantime.

All or nothing

The cart is reserved as a whole. If one of its listings has just been bought or reserved by someone else, nothing is held: you go back to your cart with that line marked, and you can pay for the rest.

How long the hold lasts

• You have 30 minutes to pay. If the time runs out, the items are released and nothing is charged. They are still in your cart.
• Some payments are confirmed by your bank later. While the bank confirms, the item stays held for you, for up to 2 days. If the payment is not confirmed in that time, the order is cancelled and nothing is charged.

What you see after paying

The return page tells you which of these happened: Payment successful, the payment is still being confirmed, the checkout timed out, or the order was cancelled because the payment was not confirmed in time.
